În calitate de reprezentanți și conducători spirituali ai acestei organizații și în numele membrilor bisericilor noastre, prin prezentul comunicat protestăm și ne arătăm indignarea împotriva deciziei luate cu o mică majoritate de către Curtea Supremă în data de 26 Iunie, 2015, în cazurile cunoscute ca Obergefell v Hodges (de asemenea, Tanco v Haslam, DeBoer v Snyder și Bourke v Beshear). Această decizie va legaliza căsătoriile persoanelor de același sex pe tot cuprinsul Statelor Unite.
Considerăm că unele decizii ale Curții Supreme, cum este cea cu privire la legalizarea avorturilor (și nu numai) au sfidat și batjocorit pe Creator, Constituția Statelor Unite, istoria umanității și legile naturii.
Fără să intrăm în argumente de ordin legal, este punctul nostru de vedere că în acest caz cei cinci judecători ai Curții Supreme au acționat mai mult ca legislatori decât judecători. Actul de lege pentru Apărarea Căsătoriei (DOMA) care definește cu claritate căsătoria ca fiind uniunea legală între un bărbat și o femeie, a fost aprobat de Senat cu un vot de 85-14 și de către Camera Reprezentanților cu 342-67. La data de 21 Septembrie, 1996, acest act a fost semnat ca lege. Această secțiune a legii a reflectat voința poporului, o corectă și clară interpretare a Constituției și voia lui Dumnezeu, Creatorul nostru.
Faptul că acest Tribunal a acționat dincolo de limitele sale este evident chiar în cuvintele judecătorilor Curții Supreme care au votat împotriva acestei decizii. De exemplu judecatorul Șef Roberts, unul dintre cei patru, a scris cu elocvență în opoziția sa: ”Curtea invalidează legile cu privire la căsătorie a mai mult din jumătatea statelor care compun SUA și comandă transformarea unei instituții sociale care a format baza societății umane de mii de ani, pentru locuitorii deșertului Kalahari, imperiile chineze, cartagineni și azteci… Cine ne credem noi?”
Acceptarea căsătoriei ca uniune legală numai între un bărbat și o femeie nu poate reprezenta o violare a Constituției după cum judecătorii liberali vor să ne convingă. Acest adevăr e accentuat de către Judecătorul Scalia care spune: “Cei cinci judecători care compun majoritatea astăzi se simt pe deplin confortabil să concludă că fiecare Stat a violat Constituţia în cei 135 de ani care au trecut de la ratificarea celui de-al Patrusprezecelea Amendament până în anul 2003 când Massachusetts a permis căsătoria personelor de acelaşi sex.” El dezvoltă subiectul afirmând că pentru a instituţionaliza căsătoria homosexualilor, Curtea Supremă a fost nevoită să găsească un drept care de fapt nu există: “Ei au descoperit în al Patruspezecelea Amendament un ‘drept fundamental’ neobservat de nici o persoană în viaţă la data ratificării şi de aproape toţi care au trăit de atunci încoace”. Frustrarea judecătorului Scalia continuă folosindu-se de un sarcasm direct prin care pune sub reflector aroganţa şi superioritatea asumată de colegii lui: “Aceşti judecători ştiu că a limita căsătoria doar la un bărbat şi o femeie e contrar raţiunii; ei ştiu că o instituţie care are aceiaşi vechime ca guvernul însuşi şi care a fost acceptată de fiecare naţiune în istorie până în urmă cu 15 ani, nu e posibil să fie suportată decât de ignoranţă şi bigotism. Şi sunt hotărâţi să declare că orice cetăţean care nu acceptă această decizie, şi care aderă la ceea ce, până 15 ani în urmă, a fost judecata unanimă a tuturor generaţiilor şi civilizaţiilor, e împotriva Constituției.” Si suntem de comun acord cu acelaşi judecător când indică faptul că această Curte şi-a asumat puteri investite de Constituţie doar în ramura legislativă nu și în cea judiciară, și că această mutare este un pericol asupra democrației în sine: ”Aceasta este o pretenție judiciară directă la puterea legislativă,  într-adevăr supra-putere legislativă; mişcare în contradicţie cu sistemul nostru de guvernare. Cu excepţia limitelor aşezate de Constituţie şi aprobate de popor, Statele sunt libere să adopte orice legi vor, chiar şi acelea care ofensează ‘judecata raţională’ a distinșilor judecători. Un sistem de guvernare care subordonează poporul unui comitet de nouă avocați nealeși de electorat, nu își merită numele de democrație”.
Ceea ce credem noi că intenționează decizia Curții Supreme, după cum ne avertizează un altul din cei patru, Judecătorul Alito, este să stabileasca o nouă paradigmă legală care va fi folosită împotriva adevăratei Biserici a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, și a tuturor celor ce se vor împotrivi: “Decizia va avea de asemenea şi alte consecinţe importante. Va fi folosită să calomnieze Americanii ce nu vor să se supună aceastei noi ortodoxii. Pe parcursul exprimării de opinii majoritatea compară legile căsătoriei tradiţionale cu legile care au refuzat tratarea echitabilă a Africanilor-Americani şi a femeilor… Implicaţiile acestei analogii vor fi exploatate de către cei hotărâți să calce în picioare orice vestigiu de împotrivire.”
Nu vrem să cauzăm anarhie, nici să instigăm violenţă, dar trebuie să ne folosim dreptul la liber cuvânt, fiind statornici principiilor nostre și condamnând decizia acestui tribunal de a proteja păcatul. Nimeni pe acest pământ nu ar trebui să-si asume dreptul de legalizare a nelegiuirii. Noi nu suntem în locul lui Dumnezeu ci doar oameni muritori care vom sta cu toții în fața Supremului Judecător la sfârșitul vieților noastre pământești. Acest subiect a fost decis de Dumnezeu după ce Adam și Eva au fost creați, atunci când a zis: ”De aceea, va lăsa omul pe tatăl său și pe mama sa și se va lipi de nevasta sa și cei doi se vor face un singur trup.” Genesa 2:24
Suntem credincioși sinceri și devotați învățăturilor Sfintei Scripturi și prin urmare, nu putem accepta căsătoriile persoanelor de același sex în comunitățile noastre și nu vom accepta niciodată să le oficiem, indiferent de prețul pe care va trebui să-l plătim. Acesta nu este un comunicat al urii față de homosexuali, dar este un comunicat al urii față de păcat. Noi predicăm cu libertate împotriva curviei, minciunii, hoției și multe alte asemenea fărădelegi, fără a fi etichetați că i-am urî pe cei care le infaptuiesc. Nu există nici o bază biblică in virtutea careia acest act imoral sa fie tolerat sau sa i se ofere consideratie speciala sau unica, dimpotriva, pretutindeni unde acest comportament e mentionat in Biblie, este condamnat sau pedepsit, si intotdeauna declarat ca pacat. Pe lângă alte texte biblice, două pasaje din Leviticul exprimă clar perspectiva lui Dumnezeu asupra acestui tip de ralatie: Leviticul 18.22 – „Să nu te culci cu un bărbat cum se culcă cineva cu o femeie. Este o uraciune.“ Leviticul 20.13 – „Dacă un om se culcă cu un om cum se culcă cineva cu o femeie, amândoi au făcut un lucru scârbos.”
Chiar dacă recunoaștem libertatea voinței cu care Dumnezeu a înzestrat fiecare ființă umană și libertatea de a-și exersa voința, cu toate acestea, suntem chemați să respectăm standardul moral așezat de Dumnezeu și să proclamăm acest standard.
Acesta este un timp în care trebuie să alegem să nu ascultăm de oameni pentru a asculta de Dumnezeu. Ne vom ruga fără încetare pentru dregători și stăpâniri, pentru această țară, dar în virtutea libertății religioase garantate de Primului Amendament, vom continua să vorbim împotriva faradelegii și să-i chemăm pe oameni la pocăință!
Ca încurajare pentru toți credincioșii, folosim cuvintele Apostolului Pavel din Efeseni 6:10-13: “Încolo, fraților, întăriți-vă în Domnul și în puterea tăriei Lui. Îmbrăcați-vă cu toată armătura lui Dumnezeu, ca să puteți ține piept împotriva uneltirilor diavolului. Caci noi n-avem de luptat împotriva cărnii și sângelui, ci împotriva căpeteniilor, împotriva domniilor, împotriva stăpânitorilor întunericului acestui veac, împotriva duhurilor răutății care sunt în locurile cerești. De aceea, luați toată armătura lui Dumnezeu, ca să vă puteți împotrivi în ziua cea rea și să rămâneți în picioare, după ce veți fi biruit totul.”
Dumnezeu să aibă milă de noi toți și să binecuvânteze Biserica Sa, și Statele Unite ale Americii,

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Of the Romanian Pentecostal Churches’ Union of the USA and Canada

As representatives and spiritual leaders of our organization, and on behalf of the members of our churches, we hereby protest and show our indignation to the narrow majority decision taken by the Supreme Court, on June 26th, 2015, in the case(s) known as Obergefell v Hodges (also Tanco v. Haslam, DeBoer v. Snyder, and Bourke v. Beshear). This ruling will legalize same-sex marriage in all of the United States.

It is our belief that some of the decisions taken by the Supreme Court (including but not limited to legalizing abortion) have been defying and mocking the Creator, the Constitution of the United States, the human history and the laws of nature.

Without entering into legal arguments, it is our opinion that in this case the five Supreme Court Judges acted as legislators rather than judiciaries. The bill for the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that clearly defines the marriage to be a legal union between a man and a woman was passed in the Senate with a vote of 85–14 and a vote in the House of Representatives of 342–67. On September 21, 1996, the act was signed into legislation. This section of the bill reflected the will of the people, the correct interpretation and clarification of the Constitution on this matter, and the will of God our Creator.

The fact that the Court assumed a role outside its boundaries is evident even in the words of the judges that voted against this decision. For example, Chief Justice Roberts, one of the four, said it so eloquently in his dissent: “The court invalidates the marriage laws of more than half the states and orders the transformation of a social institution that has formed the basis of human society for millennia, for the Kalahari Bushmen and the Han Chinese, the Carthaginians and the Aztecs.” …“Just who do we think we are?”

Accepting marriage as the legal union only between one man and one woman cannot be in violation of the Constitution as the liberal judges want to make us believe. This truth is emphasized by Justice Scalia when he says: “The five Justices who compose today’s majority are entirely comfortable concluding that every State violated the Constitution for all of the 135 years between the Fourteenth Amendment’s ratification and Massachusetts’ permitting of same-sex marriages in 2003.” He goes on to say that in order for homosexual marriage to be institutionalized, the Supreme Court had to find a right that actually does not exist: “They have discovered in the Fourteenth Amendment a ‘fundamental right’ overlooked by every person alive at the time of ratification, and almost everyone else in the time since.” Justice Scalia’s frustration continues with blunt sarcasm when he shines the light on the arrogance and superiority that his colleagues assume: “These Justices know that limiting marriage to one man and one woman is contrary to reason; they know that an institution as old as government itself, and accepted by every nation in history until 15 years ago, cannot possibly be supported by anything other than ignorance or bigotry. And they are willing to say that any citizen who does not agree with that, who adheres to what was, until 15 years ago, the unanimous judgment of all generations and all societies, stands against the Constitution.” And we certainly agree with the same Justice when he points out the fact that the Court assumed powers invested by the Constitution only in the Legislative not in the Judicial branch, and this move is a danger to democracy itself: “This is a naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power; a claim fundamentally at odds with our system of government. Except as limited by a constitutional prohibition agreed to by the People, the States are free to adopt whatever laws they like, even those that offend the esteemed Justices’ ‘reasoned judgment.’ A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.”

What we believe the ruling of the Supreme Court does, as another one of the four, Justice Alito warns, is to establish a new legal paradigm that will be used against the true Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, and all those who disagree: “The decision will also have other important consequences. It will be used to vilify Americans who are unwilling to assent to the new orthodoxy. In the course of its opinion, the majority compares traditional marriage laws to laws that denied equal treatment for African-Americans and women… The implications of this analogy will be exploited by those who are determined to stamp out every vestige of dissent.”

We are not trying to cause public unrest, nor attempting to incite violence, but we must exercise our right to free speech, standing behind our principles and condemning the Court’s decision that protects sin. No one on earth should have the right to legalize iniquity. We are not God, we are just mortal humans that will face the Supreme Judge at the end of our earthly life. God has decided this issue after Adam and Eve were created, when He said: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Gen. 2.24 (NKJV)

We are devoted and sincere believers in the teachings of the Holy Scripture, and consequentially, we cannot accept same-sex marriages in our communities, and we will never perform marriages for people of the same-sex, regardless of the price we need to pay. This is not a statement of hatred towards homosexuals, however, it is a statement of hatred towards sin. We freely preach against adultery, lying, stealing, and other similar iniquities without being labeled as haters of the people that commit those sins. There is no Biblical basis that this particular immoral act should receive special or unique treatment or tolerance, on the contrary, anywhere this behavior is mentioned in the Bible, it is either to be condemned or punished, and always a sin. Among other biblical texts, two passages in Leviticus express clearly God’s perspective on this kind of relationship: Leviticus 18.22 (NKJV) – „Do not lie with a male as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination.“ Leviticus 20.13 (NKJV) – „If a man lies with a male as one lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.”

Although we recognize the freedom of will that God has given to every single human being, and the freedom to exercise that will, we are nonetheless called to a moral standard set forth by God, and to the proclamation of that standard revealed in the Holy Scripture.

 This is one of the times when we have to choose disobedience towards man so that we can obey God. We will pray without ceasing for our leaders, government officials, and for our country, however, we will continuously speak against any transgression and call people to repentance!

As encouragement for all the believers we use the words of Paul the Apostle found in the book of Ephesians 6.10-13 (NKJV):

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

May God have mercy on us and may He bless His Church and the USA,
